Hola! I'm Sheridan's Family Liaison!

Hola!  My name is Leonardo D Torrens and I am the Family Liaison for Sheridan Arts Dual Immersion.  I was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.  I have always have had a longtime interest in cross-cultural communication, international relations and have deeply enjoyed teaching a foreign language since 2009.  This passion has clearly shaped my academic path and personal journey.

I graduated Cum Laude, in Mass Communications and French from St Cloud State University, in St Cloud Minnesota.  There I focused my work course on intercultural understanding and society dynamics.

I earned my MA in International Relations and Geopolitics while attending the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Science PO) of Toulouse, France. Also, I have complimented my academic work and professional experience with extensive travels throughout Europe, Russia, North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

I’ve been teaching and working with parents and communities long enough to fall in love with the MPS teaching method, which fulfills my dream of making connections between students, parents, community, and staff. It’s for me an honor to be part of Sheridan Elementary Arts Spanish Dual Immersion.

On a personal note, aside from traveling, I enjoy catching up daily with international affairs, history, watching documentaries about the natural world, architecture and salsa dancing.  I am an aviation aficionado and fluent in English, Spanish, and French (and the language of love, of course).

Please don’t hessite in reaching out to me leonardo.torrens@mpls.k12.mn.us for any question and/or suggestion you may have.
