My name is Joey Kristal and I am a part-time School Social Worker at Sheridan Dual Immersion.  I work with students in grades K-5 who are part of the ASD and DCD programs.  These programs are for students on the Autism Spectrum and have Developmental/Cognitive Delays.  I have been working in Minneapolis Public Schools for 26 years.  I started as a Child Development Technician at Putnam Elementary and went on to get my Master’s Degree in Social Work and have been a School Social Worker for 22 years.  I enjoy working with students and families and enjoy building relationships, helping families get connected to resources in the community, providing social skills groups and working individually with students so that they can be successful at school and in the community.

I am married, have three children ages 14, 17 and 20 and have a sweet little dog named Dixie. Dixie is a licensed Therapy Dog and when I am not at Sheridan, we provide Pet Therapy to patients in Hospice. I also enjoy walking and running, being active outdoors, seeing movies, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
