Welcome to High Five!

Welcome High Five at Sheridan School. High Five is a Kindergarten Readiness for students ages 4 and 5 entering Kindergarten next fall. I am thrilled to have your children in my class each day and look forward to getting to know your family. Educational success is dependant on a strong family and school partnership.

Please be sure your student has the following items each day: A back pack, green communication folder, a bus tag if they ride the bus, tennis shoes, weather appropriate clothing.
Our Daily Schedule

7:15-7:30  Arrival- wash hands, turn in folders, sign your name and look at books

7:30-7:45   Morning Meeting- greet one another, discuss the day, take attendance

7:45-8:10 Breakfast and Bathrooms

8:10-8:30- Small Learning Groups- Each day students work with a different teacher to develop Kindergarten Readiness Skills

8:30-9:00 Read Aloud and Lesson- We read one book five days in a row and do activties relating to the theme and vocabulary.

9:00-9:30 Specialist Monday- Gym, Tuesday- Theatre, Wednesday- Media, Thursday- Visual Art, Friday- Music

9:30-10:15 Outside (Weather permitting) and Choice Time- Time to PLAY!!

10:15-10:25 Snack and Dismissal- Each day we have a healthy fruit or vegetable snack.

In order to support the work your child does each day at school, please do the following tasks with your child each day. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Ashley.

  • Help your child write their name 3 times. The letters should be in order, and only the first letter should be upercase. When you are doing this, review the names of the letters.
  • 3 times a day, count to 31.
  • Read 3 books and talk about them.
  • Limit TV, video games and computer usage to one hour a day.

Email is the best way to conact me. I am at at school from 6:30am-10:30am each morning. I check email many times throughout the day and from home a well.
